Mind the Gap and Gecko co-production
Devised and performed by five artists with learning disabilities, in collaboration with Mind the Gap - England's leading learning disability performance and live arts company and acclaimed physical theatre company Gecko, a little space follows the lives of five people in an apartment block. The film explores what happens when they connect and disconnect from each other, whether through choice or through isolation.
Drawing on the performers’ own experiences, A Little Space is a powerful piece of physical storytelling, which uses movement, imagery, sound and lighting to portray the needs, desires and fears of the characters.
Originally created as a stage production which toured UK theatre venues in 2019/2020, supported by Arts Council England;
Commissioned by HOME, Manchester and The Place, London.
The film version was commissioned by The Space and premiered on Saturday 17 July 2021.
In conjunction with the film, I released the Original Sound Track on July 17, 2021
